How do I travel to Ghent?

By public transportation

The main railway station of Ghent is "Gent-Sint-Pieters Station". There are frequent direct train connections between Ghent and Brussels Airport. To go to Brussels South Charleroi Airport or Lille Lesquin, train transfers are required. All info on the train schedules can be found here.
Eurostar and Thalys connect Brussels Midi and Lille Lesquin with Amsterdam, Cologne, Paris and London.

By (rental) car or taxi

Ghent is only a 1 hour car drive away from 3 convenient airports: Brussels Airport, Brussels South Charleroi Airport and Lille Lesquin.
Bear in mind that Ghent city center is a low-emission zone. Check whether your vehicle is allowed to enter the low-emission zone here.

How do I travel within Ghent?

By foot  of course! Everything you will want to see and visit in the historical city center is within walking distance (including the symposium evening on Friday). If you do prefer not to walk, your public transportation ticket will provide a 72-hour access on every tram and bus in Ghent (and the rest of Flanders).

About Ghent

Since you’ll be in Ghent for a couple of days, why not combine your attendance at RAWS with a visit to our historical city center? We could write a book here on why to visit Ghent, but we will simply show you the way to Ghent’s official tourism website

Where to stay?

A list of recommended hotels in Ghent can be found here. Book your stay well in advance, since RAWS2020 will take place in peak season.
